Bobby Ford Hartwell, who was lovingly known as “Papa Seedy” was born on May 1, 1956 to the parentage of Tommie Peters Hartwell and Louis Hartwell. On Friday morning September 22, 2017 in Meridian, MS, while visiting with his Meridian family the Lord summoned hi home.
“Pop” was born and raised in Columbia, MS. He graduated from Columbia High School, where he played football all four years wearing #86. He graduated in 1973. He was baptizied at Owens Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. He spent his early adult years in Chicago, IL in care of his older brothers. He always considered Owens Chapel and Columbia home. He enjoyed attending worship services and revivals at “his church”.
He married Carolyn Yvette Abram on February 14, 1997 and to this union two children were born, Terrance Emmanuel Hartwell and Alisha Renee Hartwell. “Pop” believed in God, family, friends, and work. He worked in lawn care service at Columbia Country Club as an contractor, in brink masonry, and Orleans furniture to name a few. He was also employed with the City of Columbia when his health failed.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Jean and Louis Hartwell; his son Terrance Emmanuel Hartwell; and sister, Joanna Hartwell.
He leaves to celebrate his memory his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Alisha; two children that God blessed him with Shanetta (Gillis) Allen, Anthony (Ashleigh) Abram; Godson, Jordan Moses; five grandchildren; nine siblings, Bettye, Edgar, Larry, Horace, Eddie, Sr., Terri Lynn, Regina, Jaqueline, and Clara; two uncles, Eddie (Beaula) Peters, Sr., Charles Virgil; one aunt, Mary (Anthony) Magee; two special nieces he holds near and dear to his heart, Connie Telean McAllister and Stephanie Diane Hartwell; loyal friend and cousin, Jerry “J.J.” Holloway; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
